Located only two hours north of Manhattan in Saugerties, NY, Catskill Animal Sanctuary is a 150-acre refuge for ten species of farmed animals rescued from cruelty, neglect and abandonment. Over 5000 animals have called CAS home. Whether they’ve come from animal hoarders or agribusiness, CAS feels privileged to help each and every rescued animal understand what love feels like.
The CAS history, in many ways, is comprised of 5000 individual love stories. And it is also the story of rescuing a derelict property in Saugerties, NY, and creating a sanctuary in its place — one road, one barn and one pasture at a time, as funds come in from folks near and far who want to help.
CAS offers weekend and special group tours, vegan cooking classes, speaking engagements, school field trips and a host of compassionate programming year round at its primarily solar-powered sanctuary.
